THE Executive When the hardware resources are available, our preference is a full scale operating system. But for those deeply embedded applications more often then not the architecture ends up as an interrupt driven "background" with a poll loop "foreground". Not a robust solution. Since we could not find what we wanted, a really cheap, small footprint, bare bones real-time executive, we resurrected work from the late 80s and developed one. Version 1.0 is now complete. Control Application Framework and Toolkit We are pleased to announce the availability of version 1.1 of the C++ Framework and Toolkit for developing Windows (desktop and CE) based control applications. This includes the extensions to develop Cimetrix robotic applications. The toolkit is now licensed as open source freeware. The first step in extending the control application framework to Java (Java 2 SDK v1.3) has been completed. The fully functional, limited capability prototype is now available for download.
The second preliminary release prototype/toolkit for the "PC on the Factory Floor" has been completed. This early package is targeted towards development with Microsoft's Embedded NT and VenturCom's real-time extension, RTX. It provides an easy way to connect an RTX real-time process with the external world, both local HMIs and remote applications. This includes a fully functional, small footprint Web Service (i.e. HTTP and XML). |
